Cromaine District Library provides many different research tools for its cardholders. Subscription databases provide a wealth of information on topics ranging from finding your ancestors to elementary-level research. The information in these databases is often easier to find and more reliable than what you can find on the World Wide Web. NOTE: Most, but not all, databases allow access from home. These are labeled Available Everywhere. Databases which you must be in the library buildings to use are labeled Available at Cromaine.

Ancestry Library Edition

Ancestry Library Edition is a new genealogy research tool created for the library market and provides patrons instant access to a wide range of unique resources for genealogical and historical research. With more than 1.5 billion names in over 4,000 databases, Ancestry Library Edition includes records from the United States Census; military records; court, land and probate records; vital and church records; directories; passenger lists and more! These collections are continuously expanding, with new content added every business day.

Researchers and entrepreneurs are provided with comprehensive business and demographic information valuable to assess business viability, create sales leads and marketing mailing lists, complete location analyses and business plans, analyze population trends, find potential sponsors and donors and much more. This versatile database is useful for those who want to start a business as well as those who want to take their established business to the next level.

MeLCat services suspended until March 1, 2016

MeLCat, the Michigan Electronic Library's online catalog of resources at libraries across the state has suspended services for Cromaine and Cromaine Library's patrons, beginning November 2, 2015.
If you have a MeLCat item, please return it as promptly as possible.
Once all items have been returned, MeLCat will transition Cromaine Library to a new connection and will need to reconstruct Cromaine services.
MeLCat is not expected to be available again until March 1, 2016.
We are sorry for the inconvenience. However, be sure to check Cromaine's expanded TLN Enterprise Catalog. Over one million titles with five million items are available for self-initiated borrowing from over 50 libraries in southeastern Michigan. The TLN Enterprise Catalog is live November 19, 2015.
