Why do I have to enter my barcode to use the databases on your web site?
The library pays for the databases by using tax payers' money, therefore it must restrict their use to valid cardholders only. There are also many databases available for Michigan residents who do not have Cromaine District Library card.

Sorry, the MiLE service is no longer available.
How do I know that my privacy is protected?
Cromaine District Library respects and protects the privacy of library users and its web site visitors.
We retain only the minimum amount of information required by State and Federal laws and make every effort to provide secure and anonymous access to our resources. For additional information, see our privacy policy.
How secure is My Account? Could somebody guess my barcode?
It is always possible that someone could guess your barcode - just as it is possible that someone could guess your credit card number. Both are equally unlikely. To login to My Account, you are required to provide your entire 14-digit barcode number. Each barcode contains something called a "check digit" - they are not sequential and cannot be easily guessed.

What are BookLetters?
BookLetters is an email newsletter service. Newsletters contain titles of specific genre or category. You get a short summary of each title along with a link to our library catalog if you would like to check the item's availability or place a request. You can view the Bookletters offered by Cromaine and sign up for those that you find interesting here.
How often will I receive BookLetters?
There are two kinds of BookLetters: The ones that are put together by our staff (Cromaine BookLetters) and the ones that are created for all libraries subscribing to BookLetters service (Other BookLetters). Cromaine BookLetters are emailed when they are updated, which can vary from every few weeks to every few months. The publication for Other BookLetters is available here.
When I click on "Search Our Catalog", I get a message saying that the title is not found.
This may happen with certain titles on Other BookLetters or Bestseller Lists. Titles for these lists are not selected by Cromaine, therefore we cannot guarantee that we own everything that is listed there. If you would like us to add that item to our collection, please let us know; you may also try MiLE to see if we can get that item for you from other libraries.
How do I unsubscribe?
Information on how to unsubscribe from BookLetters is included with each newsletter that you will receive.
