We are pleased that we now participate in MeLCat, a state-wide database which lets you select books from other libraries.
IMPORTANT: If you have difficulty placing requests in MelCat please contact the Library for help.
Placing Holds on MelCat
Do you need a book or material that our library doesn’t have? You are now able to search and request on your own from the MeLCat Statewide Database. MeLCat is Michigan's new statewide online union catalog and resource sharing system. It contains the collections of participating Michigan libraries and is expected to eventually include approximately 12 million unique titles representing 48 million items. Other Michigan libraries will be added to MeLCat on an ongoing basis for the next several years. Our Library patrons will enjoy the following benefits through MeLCat:
- Ability to request library materials from any place at any time
- Monitor the status of your own information requests
- Search over the Internet to quickly identify materials owned by all types of libraries statewide.
You may also continue to receive assistance from a librarian to search for materials from other libraries. Whether you initiate your own request or we do it for you, you must be a registered library card holder in good standing at Cromaine.
If you do not find what you want in MeLCat, we may be able to find it for you at another library across the United States. Call or e-mail us for help with this interlibrary loan (ILL).
How to renew a MeLCat or ILL item
MeLCat allows one renewal per item. You cannot renew an item until seven days before the due date. Login to MyMel in MeLCat, locate the item to renew in your MeLCat record and select renew. To renew an ILL item, call the library at least five business days before the item is due. A one-time renewal of interlibrary loan materials is granted at the discretion of the lending library.
