Program Description

Event Details

Join Andrew Fleszar for a group mushroom hunt at Brighton Recreation Area! We meet in the parking lot, then venture through a trail at the park to forage, and learn about, common Michigan spring mushrooms, including edible, medicinal, and gourmet fungi. Register online or by phone.

Location and Program Details:
This program takes place at Brighton State Recreation Area, and we are meeting at the parking lot of the Mountain Bike Trailhead to begin our mushroom hunt at 10:00 am. If you can, please arrive a few minutes early!
As with all state parks and recreation areas, you will need a Recreation Passport to enter the park. If you do not have one, you can use your Cromaine Library card to access a day pass from Michigan Activity Pass
Our mushroom ID guide, Andrew, will be taking us into the woods in search of wild mushrooms! Proper hiking gear is recommended: please dress for the weather (including rain), wear hiking boots if you have them, and bring a water bottle and snack if you'd like. Be prepared for outdoor terrain and uneven ground, though we do not plan to move quickly.
