CROMAINE LIBRARY  GOALS & STRATEGIES

GOAL 1: INCREASE USE ACROSS THE COMMUNITY

Strategies:
  • Explore options for implementing new book drops and/or locker systems at remote locations
  • Investigate development of a mobile van service, focused on technology, for visits to sports sites, schools, senior centers, town halls, etc.
  • In partnership, continue expansion of outreach service to schools and teachers
  • Further develop digital and social media materials and outreach (i.e., digitizing local history materials, offering podcasts of programs, etc.)

GOAL 2: IMPROVE THE LIBRARY AS A DESTINATION

Strategies:
  • Rework the media wall to open up the first floor
  • Enrich the physical environment throughout the Library with refreshed furnishings, designated nursing spaces, re-energized teen and children’s space, and other attractive amenities
  • Consider alternative uses of the new children’s programming space for other activities when not in use by children’s services
  • Continue to advance plans for enhanced garden and outdoor spaces surrounding the Library

GOAL 3: ENHANCE PROGRAMS AND SERVICES

Strategies:
  • Further sharpen current program offerings, and ensure appropriate scheduling, with a renewed attention on commuters, empty-nesters, the 20 to 30 age group, and men
  • Advance learning and tutoring options for all ages, such as a volunteer-based homework helper service, additional post-secondary certificate opportunities, and technology and trades training activities
  • Continue to work with the local homeschool community to provide needed resources and services
  • Ensure that the Library continues to offer and promote its up-to-date technology, as well as related training and assistance

GOAL 4: ADVANCE AWARENESS OF THE LIBRARY THROUGH MARKETING AND PROMOTION

Strategies:
  • Increase the reach of social media to promote the Library
  • Work with partner organizations and businesses to further cross-promote events and services
  • Strengthen and promote community-wide messages to improve the community, and increase use and support of the Library

GOAL 5: INCREASE AND DEVELOP RESOURCES

Strategies:
  • Continue to build community-wide collaborations and partnerships
  • Explore options to develop, or share with another organization, a staff position in fundraising and resource development
  • Develop volunteer advisory groups, or short-term task forces, to develop new resources for marketing, events, and fundraising
  • Create and actively promote a planned giving program
  • Work with the Friends to maximize their financial support and to assist the group with connections to new volunteers, especially teens
