CURRENT CROMAINE CONTESTS
There are plenty of ways to get involved at Cromaine Library! Throughout the year we host a variety of contests for all ages. Check out the current running contests below, review the guidelines, and upload your submission online, if applicable.
Grant Sweet Memorial Essay Contest
September 3, 2019 through October 25, 2019
All Livingston County middle school and high school students (grades 7 through 12) are eligible to enter. Interview a soldier or veteran, learn about what their service meant to them, then share that in a 250-word essay. Essays must be submitted no later than October 25, 2019, 5:00 pm and are judged by a panel. Photos of the interview subject are requested to accompany the essay. Three cash prizes are awarded and winning essays are to be read Monday, November 11, 2019 at 7:00 pm; winners must be present to win. Winning essays are also published in the Hartland Area Community Council’s annual Memorial Day Parade booklet the following spring.
Digital Resources Passport Contest
Now through August 26, 2019
During the August 5 through August 20, 2019 Temporary Building Closure for paint and carpet renovations, we encourage our patrons to explore the Digital Resources Cromaine offers, that don't require being in the Library! Pick up a Digital Resources Passport prior to the August 5th closure (or download it here) and each day try a different e-resource—one we suggest or one you find on our website that’s new to you. Check off 17 items and bring in your passport Wednesday, August 21 through Monday, August 26 by 9:00 pm. You will be entered into a drawing for a $100 Best Buy gift card! You are on your honor—but we will look to see if our check-outs and our new accounts in these resources increase during this period. Winner will be announced August 27!
Hartland SOUP @ Hartland United Methodist Church
Wednesday, October 2nd at 6:30pm
Got a great idea to improve the community, start a new service, make a park more beautiful or even just a roadside? Need a little cash to get started and some support--helpers, project planning, PR? Get the project application and submit your proposal by September 18, 2019 at 9:00 pm for your chance to present at the October 2 SOUP! If selected, present your idea over a soup dinner, and if selected by other SOUP diners, walk away with your start-up funds. SOUP slurpers welcome, too. Pay $5 at the door for soup, salad, bread, dessert and drink. Vote on which project gets the cash collected from the meal! It is tasty crowdfunding for a project that will improve the Hartland community. Held at Hartland United Methodist Church,10300 Maple Rd, Hartland, MI 48353. RSVP here.
