There are plenty of ways to get involved at Cromaine Library! Throughout the year we host a variety of contests for all ages. Check out the current running contests below, review the guidelines, and upload your submission online. Don’t forget to vote!
Grant Sweet Memorial Essay Contest
Monday, September 10, 2018 to Wednesday, October 24, 2018
All Livingston County middle school and high school students (grades 7 through 12) are eligible to enter. Interview a soldier or veteran, learn about what their service meant to them, then share that in a 250-word essay. Essays must be submitted no later than October 24, 2018, 9:00 pm and are judged by a panel. See submission form and contest details below. Photos of the interview subject are requested to accompany the essay. Three cash prizes are awarded and winning essays are to be read Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at 7:00 pm; winners must be present to win. Winning essays are also published in the Hartland Area Community Council’s annual Memorial Day Parade booklet the following spring.
Hartland SOUP @ Winterfest

Got a great idea to improve the community, start a new service, or even a business? Need a little cash to get started and some support? If selected, present your idea over a soup dinner, and if selected by other SOUP diners, walk away with your start-up funds. SOUP slurpers welcome, too. $5 for a home-cooked dinner and a vote on the next Hartland Area Project! All proceeds to selected project. Pumpkin Painting Contest
Sunday, October 7, 2018 through Wednesday, October 31, 2018
Help us decorate the youth department with painted pumpkins and you could win a $10 Target Gift Card! Categories include Youth, Family, Tween or Teen. Other decorations are allowed, but please do not carve or poke holes in your pumpkin. Entry forms will be available at the Second Floor Youth Desk beginning October 1 and pumpkins can be dropped off anytime between Sunday, October 7 and Saturday, October 20. Patrons will vote the week of October 21 and winners will be announced on October 31.
